We’ve been busy adding several new and exciting options to our True Spec Golf fitting matrix here at GolfBox Custom, and our June update highlights three new innovative offerings.
The first is from renowned shaft manufacturer KBS. The second is sourced from an exciting new player in the shaft space called ARETERA. And the third may stop the earth spinning on its axis: premium US manufacturer Bettinardi have finally entered the iron category.
Where do they slot into the True Spec fitting matrix? Read on to find out more…
KBS PRO+ IRON SHAFTS
Premium shaft maker KBS delivers the precision and consistency normally reserved for tour players with their new KBS Pro+ shaft range.
Pro+ shafts are weight sorted across every flex, resulting in super-tight uniformity in total weight and swing weight. It’s the kind of consistency that gets our team of Master Fitters at GolfBox Custom excited when finetuning performance for our customers…
The KBS Pro+ range extends across three of KBS’ most popular shafts – the Tour, Tour Lite and CTaper – and the trio reflects the same exacting weight tolerances demanded by KBS’s tour staff.
The KBS Tour Pro+ is a stepped steel shaft and has been engineered to be more stable in the tip than its predecessor, the KBS Tour shaft, and launch a fraction lower. Its partner in crime is the KBS Tour Lite Pro+, a premium steel shaft that is 20 per cent lighter than the Tour Pro+. Meanwhile, the KBS CTaper Lite Pro+ is a lightweight stepless shaft with a firm tip and a mid-high launch.
The new KBS shaft range is stamped with a silk-screened Pro+ near the tip and is available for fitting now at GolfBox Custom.
ARETERA ALPHA ONE DRIVER SHAFTS
And now for something completely different…
ARETERA Golf is the brainchild of Alex Dee. Most golfers won’t be familiar with Dee but should be better acquainted with his handiwork.
Dee was responsible for designing some of golf’s most famous composite shafts while working at Fujikura. But seeking a fresh new challenge, Dee left Fujikura and started ARETERA Golf with a few of his mates.
Which brings us to ARETERA’S maiden release: the Alpha One driver shaft.
The Alpha One features an innovative new carbon fibre technology called Powergrid.
Without getting too deep into the Powergrid weeds, ARETERA has essentially designed a new interlocking carbon fabric weave that forms the core of their Alpha One shafts.
It is more structural and stable than the common unidirectional carbon fibre used in most graphite shafts. And its capacity to distribute force more evenly means ARETERA Alpha One shafts can store and release more energy at impact when the club head meets the ball – without impacting feel.
ARETERA’S Alpha One offering is refreshingly concise. It features just two models: Blue and Grey.
The shafts are constructed identically except for the stiffness of the tip, with the Alpha One Grey 10 per cent stiffer than the Alpha One Blue. Both shafts are finished in a luminescent white furnished with gold highlights and, depending on the model, blue or grey graphics.
The new ARETERA shafts are available in several weights and flexes. Matched to the right golfer by a GolfBox Custom Master Fitter, ARETERA shafts might just revolutionise your game off the tee.
BETTINARDI CB24 AND MB24 IRONS
It took five years for distinguished US-based putter and wedge builder Bettinardi to develop their new CB24 and MB24 irons, but the wait has been well and truly worth it.
The CB24 is a tour cavity back iron, while the MB24 is a muscleback blade. Both are purposeful creations forged from traditional carbon steel, a metal Bettinardi has considerable expertise with in producing their exquisite range of forged putters and wedges. However, they feature some pretty impressive technology inside the head.
High-density tungsten is inserted within the toe to optimise the centre of gravity through the set. And complementing the tungsten is an exotic material few manufacturers have ever turned to: ceramic composite.
Leveraging its low-density characteristics, Bettinardi have slotted a pad of ceramic composite — varying in size and shape — behind the hitting zone to finetune the centre of gravity according to loft. It helps create high-launching performance in the long irons and tighter control, spin and dispersion in the scoring irons, without affecting the Bettinardi’s signature forged feel.
The MB24 features a slightly smaller and more compact head than the more forgiving CB24. However, both irons feature near identical toplines, which makes merging the two models into a combo set seamless.
While both the CB24 and MB24 have an undeniable player’s iron aesthetic, our Master Fitters are confident both irons will suit a wide range of handicap and skill levels.
