THE SST PURE PROCESS: WHAT IS IT?

It might shock you to learn that no shaft is ever made perfectly round or even.

Despite advances in modern manufacturing technology, constructing a golf shaft remains an inexact science.

Tiny imperfections and irregularities in both the roundness and wall thickness of a shaft can affect the way it bends and twists during a golf swing.

While shaft manufacturers are reticent to admit it, the chance of being saddled with a “dud” shaft — one that either releases too much or not enough in line with its stated specs — is far higher than you’d think.

The problem is amplified when so-called “identical” shafts have dramatically different parameters of performance, which can often make for uneven and inconsistent performance through an iron set and ugly viewing out on the course.
However, there is a way to limit the impact of shaft variation to ensure greater consistency of performance.

It’s called SST PURE shaft analysis and it’s a service offered at GolfBox Custom fitting studios.

An SST PURE machine analyses the properties and structure of a shaft to identify its stiffest and most stable axis, which is known as the “Neutral Plane”.

Aligning the club shaft into the hosel of a club on the Neutral Plane eliminates or minimises the effects of poorly manufactured shaft.

And that improves distance, tightens dispersion and boosts consistency, quite remarkably in most cases.

Testing has shown that an SST Pure Analysis, also known as shaft pureing, adds up to 15 yards off the tee and tightens dispersion by nearly seven yards.

How? It’s simple really.

In a pured shaft that is aligned on its most stable plane, the club head naturally stays squarer, thus improving accuracy. And it also helps muscles remain looser and faster to create extra distance off the tee because they no longer need to react to flawed and inconsistent shaft bend.

Along with the extra distance and consistency, clubs will also feel softer with pured shafts.
